So, you’re alive.

Congrats. Now what’s your game plan?

Time's ticking. You've got living to do. Life’s too short for regrets,  inauthenticity & superficial (or super annoying) relationships. You gotta dust off your “Someday” goals. Be more you. Do less “shoulds.” And craft a life that’s not just an endless loop of wake, work & worry. But how?

Well, studies report that Mortality Awareness is a motivating Live Now button.

Live Now Mortality Awareness Button

When you embrace the undeniable fact that you’re not gonna be here forever suddenly every decision, relationship & leap - is infused with more bravery,  urgency &  passion.

Being mortal means there's no time to dawdle,
so start now & learn how to use death as a life hack!

Hi. I’m Karen Salmansohn.

I’m a bestselling author (with over 2 million books & courses sold), a leading Behavioral Change Expert (known for my bestsellers How To Be Happy Dammit and The Tweak A Week Course), columnist for Oprah and Psychology Today, with over 1.5 million followers (including a range of respected celebrities)

Plus, I’m the leader of The Mortality Aware Movement. In my research I’ve discovered that death is a helluva motivator! So coming up I’ll be sharing a range of death awareness strategies to help you to design a life so good, that on your last day on this planet,  you'll wanna give your life a five star review!

Mortality awareness is not about fearing the end.

It’s about fueling the now.

It’s about living a life rich in meaning, courage, authenticity, & zero regrets.

Mortality awareness is the ultimate procrastination killer.

When you're aware that the clock's ticking, suddenly “someday” turns into “today” and “maybe” turns into “let's do this.”  It’s like when the waiter comes to take your order, and you haven't looked at the menu yet. You get motivated to make decisions faster and with more conviction.

A mortality-focused lens helps you focus on what matters.

When you realize every Netflix binge is a choice against, say, writing your novel or calling an old friend, priorities get a little shake-up. It’s like cleaning your house when you know guests are coming over – except the guests are your dreams & aspirations. And the house is your life.

It sounds counterintuitive, right?

Death as a positive motivator?

It's like finding out that brussel sprouts are actually delicious when roasted just right.

Surprising, but also totally true!

Research shows:

Getting chummy with mortality is not morbid.

It's motivating.

  • Effects of Mortality Awareness (Daniel Spitzenstätter et al.): This study said thinking about death scared people less about dying - and inspired them to live more bravely.

  • Death, Meaning, and Well-Being During COVID-19 (Frontiers in Psychology): Found out that when we remember death is a thing, we suddenly want to hug our loved ones tighter and chase our dreams.

  • How Thinking About Death Can Lead to a Good Life (SPSP): This study reported that mulling over mortality motivates us to improve our lives. It's like, walk past a graveyard = feel more inspired to do better & be better.

  • University of Missouri Study on Death Reminders: Apparently, thinking about kicking the bucket makes people less likely to reach for a cigarette or a beer.

  • "Greedy Bastards" Study: This cheekily named study found that a nudge about our mortality turns us into people who are more about giving - and less about grabbing.

  • Hirschberger, Florian, Mikulincer Study on Death Reminders: This study said that reminders of our eventual demise make us nicer. It's like, "Hey, you're going to die one day. Now, go be kind!"

My mission:

Get you to lovingly use the undeniable fact that your time here is finite … as a nudge to make the most out of every moment.

Imagine getting to the end of your life & thinking
“Nailed it.”

That’s what we’re doing here.

Death is inevitable. But a life lived with regret does not have to be.
